Our distinguished speaker, Dr. Nicholas Igwe, an accomplished Chemical Engineer specializing in polymer and water engineering, will share insights gained from his career.


In 1995, Dr. Igwe founded Zenith Water Projects Limited, a company dedicated to providing innovative water technology solutions across Africa. His work with Zenith Water Projects has garnered global recognition from international water engineering companies and has been recognized through awards such as the African Water Leadership Award, Hall of Fame Award in Sanitation, and the CEO Water Award.


Beyond his achievements, Dr. Igwe actively engages with international organizations. As a key member of Sanitation and Water for All (SWA), he represents the global private sector Constituency and chairs the Program & Strategy Sub-Committee, showcasing his commitment to driving positive change on a global scale.


Recognizing the pivotal role of the private sector in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), Dr. Igwe founded OPS-WASH (Organized Private Sector in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). This global umbrella body is dedicated to catalyzing private sector involvement in WASH initiatives, a commitment exemplified through the initiation of Project FLUSH!T, formally inaugurated by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON.


Dr. Igwe's influence extends to shaping national water infrastructure development in Nigeria, where he actively participates in various committees and serves as a member of the National Task Group on Sanitation, representing the Private Sector.

    Dr. Igwe has a vast educational background. He is a Chemical Engineer with specific specializations in polymer and water engineering.



    He worked with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of South Africa (CSIR) in which he was instrumental to the patented Artificial Liver Assist Device, using polymer membranes for the encapsulation of human hepatocytes for which he was awarded.


    His style of work has made him the recipient of the prestigious

    · African Water Leadership Award in both 2015 and 2017

    · Hall of Fame Award in Sanitation

    · CEO Water Award



    In 1995 Dr. Igwe founded Zenith Water Projects Limited, aimed at providing innovative water technology solutions across Africa. His work with Zenith Water Projects granted him global recognition by international water engineering companies.



    Zenith Water Projects also plays a key role on the international stage, as a member of Sanitation and Water for All in which Dr. Igwe is the Steering Committee representing of the global private sector Constituency.. He is also the Chair of the Program & Strategy Sub-Committee of SWA and is additionally one of the five members of its Executive Oversight Council.



    Dr. Igwe founded OPS-WASH (Organized Private Sector in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). OPS-WASH serves as the global umbrella body for private sector engagements in WASH toward the fulfilment of SDG 6 (Sustainable Development Goals).



    Under OPS-WASH, he commissioned the innovative Project FLUSH!T which was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON.



    He serves as a member of a number of committees related to the development of water infrastructure in Nigeria.



    Dr. Nicholas Igwe is also a member of the National Task Group on Sanitation in Nigeria representing the Private Sector.



    He has published many papers and has also been invited to be the main speaker of many international conferences. He is a member of The Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE), Texas USA, and The Plastic Institute of South Africa (PISA). In addition, he is member of Nigerian Society of Engineers and many other professional bodies.

    Head of Regional Coordinators at OPS-WASH

    Engr. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe is a Water and Environmental Engineer and advocate. She is also the OPS-WASH Head of Regional Coordinators under the APWEN (Association of Professional Women Engineers) and OPS-WASH partnership.

    She was the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers and is currently the Vice President of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).

    She is a Climate Change Enthusiast and advocate.
