Event Details

This FSMA Spotlights webinar will discuss the progress made in Vietnam since the FSM3 conference, which was held in Hanoi in 2015.

There are 860 cities and towns for 38% of the 99 million population in Vietnam where urbanization continues to be an intensive process. Circular economy, less carbon emission, and green city initiatives are being discussed, despite sanitation coverage is still low in most urban and rural areas. Faecal sludge management is still a hot issue.

The speaker will share information on different efforts in FSM improvement in Vietnamese cities: inclusion of FSM into urban sanitation legal framework, standardization of on-site treatment facilities, PPP encouragement in sanitation improvement, implementation of suitable treatment options such as co-treatment with wastewater or sewage sludge at wastewater treatment plants, co-composting, etc. Some studies on an exploration of value chain possibilities will also be shared.
